Pizza Pat Week

First, let me take this time to thank Cooke's mom (Cindy Rhodes) for taking the time to come into our classroom and teach the kids how to eat healthy. You may remember Mr. Food face from your child's backpack. These were given by Cindy in an attempt to make eating healthy fun for your child. I can say that the children really loved decorating Mr. Face in our classroom. It was a great way of introducing new foods to the children. I hope that you will pull these out from time to time and let your children have fun.

For Pizza Pat week the children also had fun making paper pizza's ... Red Glue for sauce, Red Circle's for peperoni's and flour for cheese. What fun they had being creative.

Anne Miller making her paper pizza.

If you have not heard about our favorite book Pizza Pat by now I am sure you will. The children just love this book. It didn't take long for us to realize that we would have to have a pizza pat week. I hope your child came home talking about all the fun we had pretending we were chef's in the kitchen. Each child got to make his own (No oven required) pizza while wearing the chef's hat that he/she made. It was so much fun watching the children get excited about reading, cooking and creating. I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

We all had so much fun decorating our groundhog hole and jumping out of our big brown box. Some of us saw our shadow and some of us didn't, but one things for sure, we all had our own opinion of if we were ready for winter to stay or to go.

We are looking forward more Love of learning as we continue the month with transportation fun and Dental week. Happy Valentines Day to everyone.. Thank you for sharing your little ones with us each and every day.. We really do love each and every little personality!

It's not WHAT we make, but what we LEARN making it.

I hope that each day your little one looks forward to art time. It's not WHAT we make, but what we LEARN while making it. We are not only learning as we play, we are also taking time to explore our sight, taste, touch, and smell. Last week we learned a little about how polar bears hibernate. We painted polar bears with shaving cream. The children enjoyed touching and smelling the shaving cream. A few of the children said it smelled like daddy. They are so little, yet they are able to piece all sorts of things together, it is amazing. Here are a few pictures of the children painting a polar bear in a snow storm. When I send these home please take time to let your child rub the polar bears fur. The shaving cream will have dried and it will have a furry feel to it. I explained this to the children and I think they are excited to see how it feels now that it is dry.

Baby it's cold outside.

Ice painting.... They kids had so much fun with this. We talked about how cold the ice felt to the touch and about all the different colors we used.
Ava with her baby doll, I think they were getting ready to do a little shopping.

It has been a cold January, but we are staying warm at school. We have enjoyed our exercise time in the gym. One of our favorite things to do is to make it snow inside using cotton balls and our parachute. You would be so happy with your little ones listening skills when it comes to working together to get our parachute to go up and down. I know Mrs. Terre and I are.

Staying warm and germ free is tops on our list. Mrs. Terre and I spray all of the toys down with Lysol each day and wipe the tables down with Clorox wipes. Thanks again for your kindness in sending those in at the start of the school year. We want to keep your child feeling as well as possible. We miss them so much when they are out sick. Ask your child to sing the "Lets put on our coats song" Its a cute song and we are having a good time learning it.

I also hope that your child comes home talking about the games we are playing at music time. We love to sing about the snowman's sitting on a hill. He is a jolly little fellow. His hat is black, his scarf is red and his mittens are bright yellow. We are enforcing colors, patience, and taking turns. As a bonus we have learned that a pair of mittens mean two mittens, and that another word for happy is jolly. These little songs are so important in our learning, I hope that you take the time to sing them with your child. If you don't know the tune, chances are they do.. :-) Read them out loud once and they will have you singing along in no time.

Here are just a few pictures of what we have been up to. More to come SOON.. Hope you enjoy.

Holland's 3rd Birthday Celebration

Thank you Angie for sending in such beautiful princess cupcakes, they were wonderful and the children were so excited about them.

Jackson's mom sent in pudding, goldfish and juice in the place of our Christmas party. She also sent home beautiful ornaments with your childs name on it. Thank you so much for all you do as parents.

Jackson enjoying his yummy snack.. Thanks mom!!

Colin making his invisible snow man for our window. It was so much fun to see how different each child's snowman looked using the same pieces. Take a look at them on our window as you pick up your child from school. We are also learning how to spell our names outloud, these snowmen are a big help in the game we play. As you pass the window with your childs snowman ask them what letter their name starts with.
